பாகம் 2-இல் conductor பஸ்ஸை நிறுத்தி 1998 தீபாவளி இரவைச் சொல்கிறார்: இதே கடைசி பஸ் 18-வது கொண்டை ஊசி வளைவில் வழுக்கியது; எல்லாரும் தப்பினார்கள், எப்போதும் பாட்டுப் பாடும் ஒரு conductor மட்டும் இல்லை. பாட்டி பாடியது அதே பாட்டு. பஸ் கிளம்பியதும் rear mirror-இல், வளைவின் அருகே கையில் விளக்குடன் அவர் நிற்கிறார்.

The conductor stopped the bus. His hands were shaking. "Thambi… I've been on this route for eighteen years. 1998, Deepavali night. This same last bus. This same eighteenth hairpin bend. The bus skidded off. Everyone got out alive. Everyone except the conductor. He always used to sing a song on the bus." The song I heard… was that very song. The bus started up again. He looked in the rear-view mirror. At the eighteenth hairpin… an old woman was standing. With a lamp in her hand.

What the film shows

The conductor stops at hairpin 18 and tells of the 1998 Deepavali crash, drawn in negative; the dead conductor's song is the paati's song, and in the rear-view mirror she stands at the bend holding a lamp.

How it was made

Sujal recorded the voice himself, on his phone, in Tamil; there is no AI voice. The picture was drawn in code with Claude, in the Saul Bass line titles, black and white style of the Lemo-Opuscar film library, on one PC above our shop in Vaniyambadi. Kadaisi Bus is fiction.
