Why We Give Away 700+ AI Skills for Free

The 2BFT Academy has 700+ free AI skills. We could have charged ₹5,000-10,000 for the curriculum. We didn't. Here's why.

The math doesn't work for gated.

India has 63 million SMBs. The ones who can pay ₹10,000 for an AI course are maybe 200,000 of them. The ones who can pay ₹100 are 5 million. The ones who can pay ₹0 are 50 million. We want to reach the 5 million, not the 200,000.

Even if we converted 1% of the 200K at ₹10K each: ₹20 crore. Sounds great. But we'd be teaching people who already have the means. The actual market need is the 5 million who can pay ₹100, and the 50 million who can't pay anything.

The math works for free.

Of the 50 million who can't pay, even 0.1% converting to a ₹1,000 service is 5,000 customers × ₹1,000 = ₹50 lakh. Of the 5 million who can pay ₹100, even 1% is 50,000 customers × ₹100 = ₹50 lakh. Total: ₹1 crore from the bottom of the pyramid, vs ₹20 crore from the top. Different size but different impact.

And: the bottom-of-pyramid customers tell their friends. The top-of-pyramid customers don't. Free is the better growth strategy, not just the better mission.

What India actually needs from AI education.

Three things. One: vocabulary. Most small business owners don't have words for "prompt" or "agent" or "RAG". The first job of any AI course is to give people words. Two: trust. Most small business owners think AI is hype for foreign companies. The second job is to show them real tools they can use today. Three: community. The third job is to connect them with other learners.

It's also not "free for everyone because AI should be free". AI tools cost money to build. People who build them should be paid. We just think the BASIC layer of "here's how to use Claude, here's how Nano Banana works, here's the 5-skill stack" should be free for anyone who wants to learn. Everything past that is a fair transaction.
